I’ve always enjoyed working with cedar in my great-grandfather’s woodshop as a youngster and CDR Built (pronounced “Cedar Built” and doubles as an initialism for Custom Designs by Ryan) is a nod to how my love for woodworking began.
I was born and raised in Northern Ontario and taught by my father to use and appreciate simple hand tools the hard way.
While setting down roots in beautiful British Columbia, I wanted my love of clean design to work with the skills and techniques that are ingrained in me to create something special.
My model is to combine the visions of others with my personal design to create unique pieces to fit their home and lifestyle that will last for generations to come. Taking the time to build quality pieces from solid wood with precise joinery that is functional, durable, and also aesthetically pleasing is something I take pride in doing.
